Academy Audition & Scholarship

Nacho Duato Academy, located in the heart of Madrid, offers the internationally acclaimed Nacho Duato Trainee Program. The program is designed to train students to become professional dancers and accepts a wide range of students, from in-school lessons and rehearsals to trainees preparing for paid internships at CND (Nacho Duato Company).

In addition to the annual curriculum training program, the workshop will also hold auditions for the summer course. Outstanding participants will be awarded a one-year scholarship or a summer course scholarship.

About the trainee program

Nacho Duato Academy's training program is a program designed by Nacho Duato, a leading artist and instructor, where you can study various arts in the heart of Spain.

Currently the artistic director of Russia's Mikhailovsky Theater, Mr. Duat's academy provides strong instruction in both classical ballet and modern contemporary ballet. We train dancers who have mastered every dance style, from full-length ballet to emotional and innovative contemporary ballet, and let their talents shine into the future.

Specializing in training to become a professional

The Trainee Program provides intensive training essential to becoming a professional dancer. Unlike regular academic schools, it is designed as an intensive program to develop ready-to-work skills.

If you aim to become a professional dancer, you will conduct your ``job hunting'' through auditions after graduating from ballet school. This is because while schools play a role in providing education, job support is limited, so it is extremely important for students to independently try out for a job at a ballet company. Unlike Japanese companies, which place emphasis on hiring new graduates, ballet companies require immediate performance, and auditions include dancers who have already established a career. Therefore, the trainee program focuses on training elements with an emphasis on on-the-job experience to bridge the career gap that exists between academies and professionals.

Mainstream-focused education

Most of the ballet companies that come to Japan are large-scale ballet companies representing each country, but in reality there are more small ballet companies with around 10 to 20 people. These groups frequently perform contemporary works based on traditional classical ballet. Both elements are extremely important, as can be seen in the recruitment guidelines of ballet companies that often include the line, ``Strong ballet technique and contemporary technique are required.'' The trainee program focuses on ballet companies, where there are many opportunities to become professional dancers, and emphasizes both ballet technique and contemporary technique, and provides lessons and rehearsals to develop skills that can be used immediately.
